Our Approach
At the heart of our work is a holistic understanding of health, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being—and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” Within this framework, our approach emphasizes the enhancement of mental well-being through sound and neuroscience-based education interventions. We use music, rhythm, and sound-based techniques to support emotional regulation, behavior change, nervous system balance, and ongoing education.
Our consulting, training, and workshop offerings are educational in nature and are meant to support professionals and individuals seeking learn about evidence-informed strategies to promote psychological wellness, stress-resilience, and habit optimization.
About The NeuroSensory Studio
Developed by Dr. Lindsey Smith, Neuroscientist & Founder of Synaptic Harbor
Why your nervous system matters: Chronic stress overloads your brain and body, causing fatigue, fog, and long-term health risks (1, 2, 3). Prioritizing rest isn’t a luxury — it’s essential for resilience, focus, and brain health.
Stress resilience training shouldn’t be a luxury. Yet too often, we lack the time, guidance, and accessible spaces to build it—Dr. Smith is changing that, starting right in the the heart of Alabama.

About Dr. Lindsey Smith:
A neuroscientist and certified sound healing facilitator, Dr. Smith combines rigorous science with non-invasive non-pharmacological techniques proven to foster calm, and reshape stress responses. After facing her own breast cancer in 2022, she created Synaptic Harbor, Birmingham's most innovative Neuroscience-in-Action programs to educate the public on how to make brain optimization practical, personal, and most importantly restorative.
"Resilience begins the moment you stop bracing and start breathing." — Dr. Lindsey Smith
